Welcome to the Harvey Edwards Archive
Since 1972, with the release of 10 Days Around Mt. Blanc, Harvey Edwards produced approximately 30 films, ranging from outdoor education, adventure, and entertainment to comedies and films about writing poetry.
Based out of his small office in Chamonix Mt-Blanc, he was inspired by nature and the eclectic people who play and make their living in it. After moving to Upstate New York, his work continued, this time not in the mountains, but in the northeast forests and valleys with films about Nordic skiing and cycling. This is where his eclectic style developed on a deeper level.

Alpine & Backcountry ski films
Powderhound, The Return of Powderhound and ski traverses
Powderhound is the ski bum we all wish we had become, minus the intruder, kids, and the inevitable job. But then again, this all enriches the dream of endless powder turns while staring into . . . nothing . . .
Harvey backcountry skied before most of us were born, and in his two films, he inspires us with stunning views, real people, and stories.

Nordic Skiing Films
Nordic Skiing Films feature World Loppet events in Europe and the US. Harvey Edwards promoted this sport by making Nordic instructional films.
Cycling & BMX Films
The love of sports, from endurance athletes to young stunt people, leads to a pile of broken bikes in a dark forest in Vermont’s northern kingdom.

Hiking Films
This is where it all started, with the family-oriented film, 10 Days Around Mt. Blanc and then The Great Traverse across the Alps. In his last hiking film, Let the Mountains Speak, Harvey Edwards describes the changes through the eyes of an old timer.

Films about Writing Poetry
In the photo below, Harvey’s professor, Theodore Weiss at Bard College, leads the audience through the process of building a poem by using their life events. This experience is then passed on to the children in the classroom.
